Smoke Deck Creations

A self-taught sculptor, Brian tried his hand (figuratively and literally) at carving in late September, 2007.  Through trial and error he learned the dos and don'ts of wood carving. Initially assuming he should be traditional in his carvings, he attempted to carve a spoon which ended up being a very nice skeleton key with a floating ball and cage.  

Within the first month of carving he traded in his first set of carving knives for a professional set which helped him create Christmas presents for his family. This allowed him to move from softer woods to found hard woods which produced both a greater challenge and a high quality finished product.

Looking for a challenge, Brian decided to try carving stone. So he got out his electric tools and set up a workshop in his kitchen. One of the first stone carvings Brian created was for his wife. He decided to carve a pregnant woman holding her precious belly as they were expecting their first child. The amazing carving, called "Ronan" in honor of their son, glows when light is cast through it. 

Much thought and detail is put into every piece that  Brian carves. His creativity gives each piece of art it's uniqueness. He takes great pride in the art he creates.

Smoke Deck Creations is a place to find unique wood carvings, stone pendants, deer antler carvings, and bone carvings. Although some may look similar, none are exactly alike as each one is carved by the artist himself. The carvings and pendants are great for gift giving and for those who appreciate the beauty of fine art.

Brian's artwork is displayed at the Fordham Market in Beaufort, SC.

His art was displayed at the Red Piano Too Gallery, the Beaufort International Chalk Festival in November 2008, and at The Arts Council of Beaufort County.
